The needle of the Mandelbrot Set begins at c=-1.40155, where the bulbs to the west of the main cardioid in the continent of the Mandelbrot continue to double their periods until reaching infinity. 
the needle reaches west to its greatest extent c=-2.  Mini Mandelbrot sets can be found in abundance along the needle.  The largest of which called the “minibrot cusp” by many is at c=1.75.
